Pavilion Lake microbialites

This multi-disciplinary research effort to map and understand the existence of microbialites in Pavilion Lake, British Columbia, Canada forms part of an on-going NASA-UBC led effort to investigate the Mars analogue potential of terrestrial lacustrine carbonates. This project is part of the Canadian Space Agency's (CSA) Canadian Analog Research Network (CARN).

In October 2006, Therese Sallstedt, a NASA Planetary Biology Internship student from Sweden co-advised by Dr. Sherry L. Cady and Dr. Tomas Hode, collected samples at Pavilion Lake and is examining them under the light microscope, SEM, and TEM for her internship project.
